Levine Defends ‘The Voice’ Against ‘American Idol’s’ Jackson
In what would have to be the most effeminate brawl since the Jets and Sharks tap-danced their way into battle in West Side Story, ‘American Idol’ and ‘The Voice’ are taking their rivalry up a notch.
The first shot was fired by ‘Idol’s’ Randy Jackson, who said on a TCA Press Tour,
“The winner of The Voice, I will remind you, was an artist who had a deal at Capitol Records for several years, a failed contract.”
Randy would also go on to state that ‘The Voice’ was for “second chance people,” and that ‘Idol’ would “never rip off Star Trek like they did, with spinning chairs.”
Ouch. It may just be me, but ‘American Idol’ sounds like it’s not too happy about the success of ‘The Voice.’ Jackson’s insults are reaches, to be kind.
Now, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Adam Levine has fired back on Ellen.
Levine, the lead singer of Maroon 5, has become the spokesperson for the show in recent weeks and is unafraid to stand up to the titan that is ‘American Idol.’
Watch here as Levine takes Randy to task:
To summarize: Shame on you, Randy Jackson. It’s just not doin’ for me, dawg.
