“Words With Friends” Apparently A Great Place To Hook Up

Words With Friends vs. Glick

Glick from 105.7 The X Clearly Trying To Flirt With Me

You know the game Words With Friends, right?

It’s Scrabble, more or less, that you play with your friends on Facebook or your smartphone or whatever.

Believe it or not, people have used the game to hook up. Successfully. The folks who make the game, Zynga (also makers of FarmVille) surveyed a ton of their users for Valentine’s Day and found that one in ten users of Words With Friends have hooked up with someone “as a direct result of the game.”

Those are pretty good odds.

I guess what they’re saying is that Words is a convenient forum for singles to meet other people and chat in a friendly atmosphere. Also, I’m thinking that you can actually judge the intelligence of your opponent based on how hard they kick your ass in the game.

Also, the survey found that 40% of people would meet up with a randomly matched-up opponent after getting to know them through the game. Take that, eHarmony.

This is also kind of an interesting counterpoint to the speculation that some people have about technology making us more isolated and screws up our face-to-face interactions.

But I mean think of it this way: if you put down “sex” as a word in the game, that pretty much spells out what you’re looking for, and from the results of this survey, you may actually win.

On that note, I’m all out of puns for the day.
